Musician

I began playing music professionally in 1986. I am most often hired to play flute, clarinet and saxophone. I also play bass and piano in assorted ensembles, theater pit orchestras and worship bands.

As a horn section player, I've worked with entertainers such as Arethra Franklin, Helen Reddy, Petulia Clark, Jennifer Holliday, Lea Salonga, Gloria Loring, Bob Hope, Ben Vereen, Lou Rawls, Peabo Bryson, George Benson, David Cassidy, Jim Nabors, Skip DeVol, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Drifters, Stars of the Lawrence Welk Show and others.

In addition to playing in big bands, jazz orchestras, and corporate bands, I played and sang in Army bands for 23 years. I retired as First Sergeant of the 108th Army Band in 2015.

Music Education and Music Preparation

I have taught public and private school band and strings to 6th-12th grade students for 36 years. I earned my Bachelor of Music Education degree at Aquinas College in Michigan and both my Master of Music Education and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees at Arizona State University in Arizona. For the past ten years, I have taught orchestra, guitar and ukulele, piano, IB Music and fiber arts full-time at Rancho Solano Preparatory School in Scottsdale, Arizona. I teach online beginning guitar lessons for the music education platform Moosiko.

In addition to teaching, I offer music preparation and publication services to performers and school and theater music directors. I tailor custom concert and pit orchestra arrangements for varied skill level or odd instrumentation ensembles. I create curriculum exercises and lesson plans to support and enhance concert literature. I turn handwritten scores and parts of originals and arrangements into professionally printed works.
